Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV)

The Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) is an effective method to pre-condition the incoming fresh air. This high-efficiency ventilation system, offered by Marut Air, a leading Energy Recovery Ventilator Manufacturer in India, plays a crucial role in improving indoor air quality (IAQ) while minimizing energy consumption.

The fresh air is conditioned by the heat exchanger which recovers both latent & sensible energy from stale air without coming in direct contact with each other. The fresh air goes through a 3 stage Filtration process. This multi-stage filtration system, incorporating high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters, effectively removes dust, pollen, and other airborne contaminants, ensuring clean and healthy indoor air.

The energy exchange core can reduce indoor energy loss through counter flow and convective flow technology, the polymer nanomaterial / ER Paper exchange core ensures the heat exchange rate is up to 70%. This advanced technology, utilized by Marut Air’s ERVs, maximizes energy recovery efficiency, resulting in significant energy savings and reduced operational costs.

High-quality fresh air for your Premise

ERV vs. HRV: Which Ventilation System Is Right for Your Building?

Energy-recover Both recover energy from leaving air to warm incoming fresh air, but what they carry is different. ERV transports sensible (heat) and latent (moisture) energies, so they’re ideal in humid regions or houses that don’t wish to lose moisture or gain excessive humidity. HRV transmits merely sensiblle energies, making them appropriate for drier local climates to avoid condensation.

  • Choose ERV if: you have a building in a humid climate, or you want to deal with both interior humidity AND indoor temperature.
  • Choose HRV if: you live in a dry area and it is not important to you to deal with the air temperature.
  • Marut Air benefit: the polymer nanomaterial of our ERV core deals with both of these problems in an intelligent way with additional hardware elements not necessary.

How to Choose the Right ERV Model for Your Space

Selecting the right ERV involves the same variables as any other ventilation system: space usage, building volume, and room air changes per hour. Size an ERV too small and you under-ventilate a building. Size too big and you spend unnecessary money up-front and on energy long-term.

  • Small offices/residential rooms – Use MER-2A to MER-4A (200 to 400 m³/h) in environments that typically have few occupants per square foot.
  • Mid-size commercial space – Use MER-6A to MER-8A (500 to 800 m³/h) to meet fresh air requirements in office spaces, retail spaces, meeting rooms, or even dental/physician offices.
  • Large commercial/industrial/institutional space – Use MER-10A to MER-13A (900 to 1300 m³/h) for hotels, large apartment buildings, school facilities, or hospital facilities.
  • Rough guide – The number of people in the building, multiplied by the typical recommendation for fresh air supplied per person, based on the type of building.

Calculating the Real Energy Savings of Installing an ERV

The fresh incoming air is pre-heated or pre-cooled using energy from the outgoing air with an ERV, so your system will do a lot of the work already when bringing fresh air into your space and will lower the costs.

  • Heat exchanger efficiencies up to 70%, less work for your HVAC system than processing unconditioned outdoor air when conditioning (heating/cooling) new air that enters the building.
  • Space savings are most drastic in harsher climates, where HVAC systems work extra hard for both winter (extremely cold) and summer (extremely hot) months.
  • Save money on long term maintenance by cutting down on HVAC run time.

Whole-Premise Fresh Air System

Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) in India intakes the outdoor fresh air, filters and purifies the air efficiently before delivering air into the indoor space. Besides that, the system can exhaust the indoor stale air to the outdoor environment at the same time, achieving the whole Premise ventilation. Users can obtain high-quality fresh air, even when the whole room is enclosed and airtight. Contact us today to learn more about our ERV solutions and how they can improve your indoor air quality.

Frequently Asked Questions About Energy Recovery Ventilator

  • Do I really need this, or can I just open a window for fresh air?

When you open your windows, you get fresh air, but you are also allowing your expensive, already warmed or cooled air to leave with it — and if your house is in an area prone to dust or pollution, you’re letting in unfiltered air along with it. With an ERV, you get filtered outdoor air without losing the energy you already spent conditioning your indoor air — it’s essentially “pre-paid” fresh air.

  • It depends somewhat on your climate and how well-sealed your home already is, but in practical terms: every time fresh air comes in and your conditioned air goes out, your heating or cooling system has to redo that work from scratch. An ERV recovers up to 70% of that lost energy, so your system doesn’t have to work as hard — and the savings are even more noticeable in extreme hot or cold climates.

  • It works well for both. It’s especially useful in modern, well-sealed homes — the tighter the seal, the more stale air, cooking odours, and moisture get trapped inside. An ERV solves that without needing to crack open a window and undo your insulation.
